cket WiTopia >> personalVPN

For A Limited Time...

WiTopia offers a FREE PPTP VPN with every purchase of our personalVPN™ service.

How long will this offer last?

We're not telling, so you better buy now! ;-)

Will it be free for the entire year?

Yes. Just pay $39.99 for a year subscription to personalVPN™ (SSL), and your PPTP VPN will be active for the entire year as well.

Am I still covered by your unconditional moneyback guarantee in first 30 days from purchase if I am not satisfied?

Yes. Absolutely.

Why are you doing this, especially since competitors charge much more, even for a standalone PPTP VPN?

We're naked opportunists, obviously. But seriously, with the release of Apple's iPhone, and its Wi-Fi capabilities, there is a tremendous new need for personal data security in the marketplace. We aim to fill that need.

The iPhone, like most smartphones, currently supports PPTP and not our SSL VPN. With smartphone popularity growing exponentially, and the general ubiquity of PPTP, many of our customers have expressed the desire for both an SSL and a PPTP VPN solution.

Seemed like the right thing to do.

But, why offer it free? Is the PPTP VPN limited in some way?

Thanks to our snobbery, we maintain a pure UNIX environment. Because of this, and our usual mix of secret sauce and diabolical genius, we have the scalability to offer it without pre-set bandwidth limitations or transfer limits while maintaining our performance. That being said, if you try and run a phone company over it, or something else unreasonable, we reserve the right to be unpleasant and discuss that with you.

Honestly, the main reason for the incredible deal is we hope you tell your friends and colleagues about us. We do need volume to make the math work so we are happy to offer this to a limited group who will help us spread the word.

Do I need to have an iPhone to use the PPTP VPN service?

Not at all. PPTP is a fairly universal VPN standard that can be used with the built-in clients, or easily obtained third party clients, on most any operating system. This includes Windows, Mac, Linux, Windows Mobile, and Palm devices.

That being said, if you don't have an iPhone, you're missing out on feeling like you just got your first driver's license all over again.

Will the PPTP VPN work over traditional wired networks?

Yes, unless PPTP is deliberately being blocked. That's why it's good to also have our SSL version loaded up on machines that can support it.

What about 3G, AT&T's Edge Network, and such? Can it protect my data and identity over those networks?

Yes. Now, those networks *do* contain "some" security so it is not as urgent to use the VPN. In contrast, the great majority of Wi-Fi networks you'll be using will be wide open. Anyone who wishes to see your data can easily do so. Wi-Fi networks have also been known to have dangers such as "evil twin attacks" and other fun stuff. You really don't want to use Wi-Fi without a VPN enabled.

The thing to know is the VPN works best over a stable broadband speed connection.

What are the advantages of PPTP versus your current SSL-based personalVPN™ service?

- Easier setup

- No software to install

- Might be a little faster

- You can run your VPN on most any device. The SSL version is OS-specific.

- Even possible to run it temporarily on a public or a friend's machine.

- Still retains "location-cloaking" and "anonymizing" capabilities of SSL VPN.

Any disadvantages?

By its nature, PPTP is a "weaker" flavor of VPN than our current SSL-based personalVPN™. It may not work in as many places and is more prone to what is called a "dictionary attack" so you'll want to use a longish password that is not a word that can be found in the dictionary.

Do I really need a VPN?

Yes. For a more detailed answer see our main VPN page.

How do I get one?

Just buy our personalVPN
